embodied couples counseling & somatic sex therapy

Relationships are at the core of our human experience. In fact, there are studies that show people live longer when they have supportive relationships in all forms. Why not tend to this area of your life and create the most loving, nourishing, connected relationships you can?

As a somatic couples therapist, specializing in sex and intimacy, I believe there are infinite opportunities to cultivate deeper intimacy and sex. I’m talking about up-leveling your communication skills so you don’t have to be stuck in the same loops of disconnection over and over. I’m talking about taking ownership of our individual experiences, actively listening and actually hearing each other. I’m talking about recognizing our personal desires and needs and advocating for them in relationship, establishing healthy boundaries and respecting your partners’ limits. I’m talking about challenging the oppressive societal structures that exist around you and within you so you can make empowered choices about your relationships instead of falling into “what you are expected to do.”

..I’m also talking about sexual intimacy! Our U.S. culture has failed many of us with misinformation or just missing sex education. So many women do not even understand their own anatomy, let alone how to enjoy sexual intimacy. This is common! In our work together, we will explore a holistic approach to sex education and arousal anatomy and what is meaningful to you about sex and intimacy. We learn and practice consent, embodied awareness of arousal and desire, and how to communicate with each other about this oftentimes hidden and daunting topic. Which by the way, is a MAJOR part of life!

Training & education

I apply my Masters-level Somatic Counseling Psychology degree as well as clinical training in the Somatic-Concentric Sex Therapy model (trained by Melissa Walker, LPC, R-DMT), which supports a holistic lens of sexuality. Additionally, I have training in Pragmatic/Experiential Therapy for Couples (trained by Brent Atkinson of The Couples Clinic). I also work with The Embodied Relationships Counseling Center where we specialize in relationship + couples + marriage counseling, and sex therapy.

I welcome diverse relationship structures including consensual non-monogamy and folks in the LGBTQ+ communities.
